Overview
Practice adding alt text and marking images as artifacts in a PDF.
Note that this PDF only focuses on image accessibility, and may have a tagging structure that is not as accessible as it could be. This document is used in various other activities to practice various accessibility principles.
Instructions & Answer Key
- Use the rubric as a guideline.

- Do not attempt to remediate in Word. Export as a PDF.
- Run the Action Wizard > Make Accessible.
- Scroll down to Set Alternate Text.
- Use the pop-up dialog box, Set Alternate Text, to provide a textual description of the image. Fix the lack of content surrounding each image by explaining what is in the picture as best you can. For the image of the black and white dog with a caption underneath it, use the Decorative Figure checkbox option to mark that image as an artifact that screen readers will skip over and not interpret.

For the image that was marked as an artifact, you may locate it in the Tags Panel, right-click on the image, and view its Properties to ensure it is marked as "Artifact".
