Welcome to BIOL 21A Human Anatomy & Physiology

Meeting times:
• Lecture is Tuesday &Thursday 9:30 am -10:45 am in the Old Administration Building room 188
• Lab is Wednesday 8:00 am – 10:50 am in the Science Building room 160
• Lab exams will be taken during lab time, lecture exams will be taken during Tuesday lecture time (exact days and times of exams are listed in the course outline/schedule at the end of the syllabus).

Getting comfortable with our course:

Materials for each lecture and lab will be posted on Canvas for you to either print or download onto a device you will bring to class.
Masks must be worn while on FCC campus. I will remind you of this and enforce it.
If you have symptoms or were exposed to someone who tested positive for Covid-19, stay home and email me so that I can guide you through anything you missed in class. Materials are available on Canvas and assignments can be submitted through Canvas so that you are not penalized for staying home when sick.
If you have a serious and unchangeable schedule conflict (or need to stay home due to Covid-19) that will prevent you from taking an exam or quiz, email asap so that we can come to an arrangement such as a time to take an alternate exam.
There are 3 Introductory assignments that must be completed in the first week of class to avoid being dropped.

Please go through all the introduction pages to familiarize yourself with how we'll operate. You'll see that your textbook is free and available both embedded in the course modules and by simply Googling, "Openstax anatomy & physiology". Please contact me if you have any challenges so that we can work together to meet your needs.

Navigating through Canvas

Syllabus: Find the schedule of lecture chapters with exam dates and reference any course information/policies.

Announcements: I will post when there needs to be an important change or any general communication is needed. Please check announcements daily or at least twice a week.

Modules: This is where all your content for each week's lecture and lab will be posted (Unit and module checklist, learning goals, and materials).

Discussions: Here is where you will print each week’s discussion questions. We will work on these together in class and they will be turned in after you take the lab exam for that unit. If you have to miss class these can be submitted digitally.

Grades: This is where you can see all the assignments and your grades once I post them. Check this regularly to know where you stand in the class. Let me know if there is an error or I missed something you submitted.
