Student Success Coaching is designed to help students maximize their college experience and reach their goals. This is done through 30-minute one-on-one meetings between the Coach and the student. Student Success Coaches are available to aid students in identifying their educational and personal goals. Coaches also offer referrals to campus and community resources and help keep you motivated and accountable to your college goals.

Attend STEM Study Hour, a place to study with fellow students with support from PODER Student Success Coach and PODER Student Outreach team member.

Program Mapper

The Program Mapper identifies the specific set of courses students must complete in their major in sequential order. STEM and Computer Science includes programs in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, Life Science, Mathematics, Physics, and Physical Science. Biology

"Are you interested in medicine or health care? Do you want to take care of people as a doctor or nurse? Do you want to research how life works or find cures or treatments for diseases? Do you want to conserve the natural world? Do you want to learn about how the health of humans and the environment are connected? Do you want to teach others about how the body or biological systems work? Consider studying biology, the “central science” that allows you entry into any of these fields."

Chemistry

"Have you ever been interested in how to make medications, or how to make vaccines? Are you interested in ways to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, or how to store energy from the sun and wind in batteries? Do you want to monitor the quality of our water and air to make sure it is safe for all of us? Consider studying chemistry, the “central science” that ties biology, physics, earth science, environmental science, and engineering together."

Geology

"Geology is the study of Earth's physical structure and materials, the history of the Earth, and the dynamic natural processes of the whole Earth System. This includes the formation and use of natural resources such as soil, water, oil, and gas, along with the effects of the weather, earthquakes, and volcanoes on landforms. Nearby we can find incredible geological locations such as Yosemite, Pinnacles National Parks, and a resource-rich setting of the Central Valley."

Math

"Mathematics describes almost everything we create, use, or seek to understand in nature from computers to architecture to microbiology and engineering. Majoring in mathematics could provide you a mathematical skill set that is transferable to a wide range of careers. A strong mathematics background allows students to pursue studies in fields such as mathematics education, engineering, information technology, statistical analysis, physical science, financial analysis, and advanced mathematics."

Physics

"Physics is a field of science involving the experimental investigation and theoretical explanation of many natural phenomena, including motion, matter, energy, and the fundamental forces of nature. The study of physics will provide you with a broad range of knowledge and develop your problem-solving skills that are useful in many disciplines. The program at Clovis Community College emphasizes classical physics, including Newtonian mechanics, fluids, waves, sound, thermodynamics, electricity, magnetism, and optics. Advanced classes also include topics from modern physics, including relativity, quantum mechanics, particle physics, and cosmology."
