Canvas Studio Submission Assignments

In some cases, you may need to submit or upload a video/audio file to an assignment in Canvas using a program called Canvas Studio. Canvas Studio is a program built in to Canvas that allows you to record your webcam, record your screen, or do both and easily submit your video to Canvas using a computer, tablet, or mobile device.

Record or Upload an Audio or Video File in Canvas Studio

      1. Select the "Start Assignment" button in the top corner of the screen.
      2. The demonstration above is for a text entry submission. If your instructor has enabled Studio, you will see a Studio tab.
      3. Click the button that has the three dots and select "Screen Capture", "Webcam Capture", or "Upload a file" (NOTE: view the example above.)
        • If you are going to do a capture, then you may be asked to download a small file on to your computer. This is the recording software that will automatically be run within your browser.
      4. After your video is uploaded, select the video and click on Embed.
      5. When your video is showing within the text editor, select "Submit Assignment."

If you are recording a submission for the first time, you will need to give Canvas permission to access your camera and microphone. Follow the directions on your device to allow access.

There is also a space to leave a comment for your instructor. Assignments can be re-submitted until the last availability date that your instructor has set for the assignment. Once submitted, you cannot delete your submission.
