Annotating a File
Your instructor may upload a file for you to annotate as your assignment submission. You can annotate the file and submit the annotated file as your assignment submission from within Canvas.
Open Student Annotation

- Click on the assignment and then select the "Start Assignment" button in the top corner of the screen.
- Click on the Student Annotation tab.
- Click on the assignment and then select the "Start Assignment" button in the top corner of the screen.

DocViewer Annotation Tools
To annotate your assignment submission, use the annotation tools in the DocViewer menu.
- To download the file.
- To rotate the document clockwise by 90 degrees.
- To zoom in (+) or out (-).
- To view the document in full screen.
- To select and move annotations.
- To add a point annotation.
- To add a highlight annotation.
- To add a text annotation.
- To add a strikeout annotation.
- To add a drawing annotation.
- To add an area annotation.
To submit your assignment, click the Submit Assignment button at the bottom of the page.
Assignments can be re-submitted until the last availability date that your instructor has set for the assignment. When you resubmit an assignment, you can only access and view your most recent submission. However, instructors can view all of your submissions.
