Adding Contact Methods, Pronouns and Profile Picture

Accessing Account Settings

In your account settings you are able to make changes to certain items while some items are locked and cannot be changed. Below are three areas that can be personalized by you.

 

Adding an Email Address 

In Canvas, your default Contact Method is your Fresno City College email address. This is where you will receive all Canvas notifications Links to an external site. for your courses. You may add an additional email address for Canvas notifications to be sent to.

 

1. 1. 1. To add more Contact Methods, click on Account from Global Navigation.
      2. Select Settings.
      3. Choose the +Email Address to add another email.
      4. When finished, select the Register email button.

 

 Select Personal Pronouns

Personal pronouns will display after your name in various areas in Canvas including:

• Comment fields
• Discussions
• Inbox
• People page (Course and Groups)
• User Navigation Menu, Profile Page and Settings Page

To add pronouns, follow the instructions below.

1. In Global Navigation, click the Account link, then click the Settings link.
2. Click the Edit Settings button.
3. In the Pronouns drop-down menu, select your personal pronouns.
4. Click the Update Settings button when done. You can now see your personal pronouns in user settings.

 

Adding a Profile Picture

You can add and change profile pictures in your account settings. The profile picture will display throughout Canvas in various areas. To add a profile picture, follow the instructions below.

1. In Global Navigation, click the Account link, then click the Settings link.
2. Click the profile picture icon. Here you will have three options: Upload a Picture, Take a Picture, or From Gravatar.
3. Upload a Picture
   1. To upload a new profile picture, click the Upload a Picture tab, then click the choose a picture link.
   2. In the pop-up, find the image you want to upload and click the Open or Browser button.
   3. Use the selection boxes to crop your image. When you are finished, click the Save button.
4. Take a Picture with your Webcam
   1. Click the Take a Picture tab then click the Take Picture button.
   2. Depending on your browser, you may need to allow Canvas to access your camera. The Take a Picture option is not supported when using Safari.
   3. To take another picture, click the Retry button. When you are finished, click the Save button.
5. From Gravatar
   1. You will need to have a Gravatar Links to an external site. account to import an existing Gravatar to use as your Canvas profile picture.
   2. Click the From Gravatar tab and enter your Gravatar email address in the field provided.
   3. Click the preview button to view your Gravatar. When you are finished, click the Save button.
