Getting Tech Ready
Consistent access to a device and the internet are necessary for success in distance education courses. Keep in mind that several applications will not work on a mobile device or Chromebook. Make sure to check with each course you are enrolled in to see what technical requirements may be required.
FCC Email
Once you have been accepted to Fresno City College, an email account will be created for you. The best way to access your email Links to an external site. account is through MyPortal. On the college's login page, enter your user ID, which is your 7-digit student ID number. If this is your first time logging in, the default password is the first letter of your first name (upper case), the first letter of your last name (lower case), and your 6-digit birth date. Check your Fresno City College email account often as this will be the primary way instructors will communicate with you about your course. Your instructor will put in their syllabus how they want you to communicate with them for the semester.
Canvas
Canvas is where your instructor will place course materials, assignments, and other resources for you. This is also where you will submit assignments, participate in discussion boards, and take quizzes and exams. You will need to check that the device you are using for your online courses meets the browser and computer requirements
