Canvas Studio

Studio_Logo.png

Canvas Studio is a communication tool that allows students and instructors engage with media content by commenting directly on the video media timeline. Your instructor can also create and embed questions directly on the video for an interactive learning experience that provides feedback to help you monitor your understanding of the video content. As a student, you can use Studio to record a video of yourself using your webcam, record a video of your screen, or do both and submit the file to an assignment or discussion response.

      1. Select the "Start Assignment" button in the top-right corner of the screen.
      2. Be sure the "Text Entry" tab is selected.
      3. In the menu, select the Apps icon, which looks like an electrical plug then select Canvas Studio. If you do not see Canvas Studio, select View All and then Canvas Studio.
      4. In your Studio Library the three dots allow you to "Screen Capture", "Webcam Capture", or "Upload from computer" (view the example above).
        • If you are going to record a capture, you will be asked to download a small file to your computer. This is the recording software that will automatically run to allow for recording. Once you are done recording, the video will be added to your Library.
      5. Select the video and click on Embed.
      6. When your video is showing within the Rich Content Editor, select "Submit Assignment".

Assignments can be re-submitted until the last availability date that your instructor has set for the assignment. Once submitted, you cannot delete your submission.

Studio in a Discussion

In a discussion, when you select Reply, the Rich Content Editor opens where you can type your response to the discussion prompt. If your instructor asks for a video response, you can use Studio to record a video to include in your reply.
