Voice interpret Alana Beal's video
- Due Oct 11, 2016 by 4:29pm
- Points 20
- Available Sep 29, 2016 at 12am - Oct 11, 2016 at 4:29pm
For each student, do the following:
1. Click on each of the following links for Alana's videos (some have different ones included-otherwise they overlap with some of the same videos)
2. *Let me know which one you want to interpret in GoReact so I can post it with your name on it (like we did the "Drill for Skill -D4S" videos.
3. Notice that even though Alana Beal featured by Deaf Nation uses communication that is more like transliteration instead of pure ASL interpretation, you can still see how she:
a. uses conceptually and visually correct ASL signs (example "run" in context - not like jogging, but managing, etc. since "run" can mean so many different things depending on the context)
b. uses ASL mouth morphemes and facial expression / affect to match the concepts and context she is sharing, even if she still mouths ENG otherwise and uses a primarily ENG word order.
Sometimes, you will need to interpret for Deaf people who also communicate the way she does (with rapid fingerspelling, new vocabulary, etc.)
4. *Ask Darci for clarification on any part of the video you don't understand (especially regarding specific signs).
5. *Voice interpret the video you tell me you prefer after I have posted it in GoReact for feedback (more drill for skill practice, but with a grade this time). It is due Tuesday, Oct 11th at 4:29pm before class. Your classmates will be able to see your video.
6. You might not be able to adjust the speed of the video (unless you record it again on a system that will allow you to adjust the speed to see it in slower motion), but you can select and read the closed captions (if the volume is not enabled).
7. Your grade will be calculated using the voice interpretation rubric.
