LIST is an acronym for content elements that require accessibility formatting. Not to be confused with the list style (numbered or bulleted list) within the rich content editor!

Since there are quite a few accessibility principles that need to be addressed, we will first introduce the initial set of elements that require accessibility formatting. using LIST, and then discuss advanced principles, Color, in the next module.

  • L = Links
  • I = Images
  • S = Structure (Heading Styles and Lists)
  • T = Table

At the end of this module, you should be able to:

  • Create descriptive hyperlinks.
  • Provide meaningful alternative text for images.
  • Apply heading styles correctly.
  • Apply list styles to groups of associated text.
  • Apply table headers, determine scope, and provide descriptive caption to tables.
