Tutorial Center FAQs

Where is the Tutorial Center located?

The Tutorial Center is in AC1-137, which is next to the Open Computer Lab.

How can I contact the Tutorial Center?

You can call (559) 325-5248 or email ccctutorialcenter@cloviscollege.edu.

When is the Tutorial Center open?

We are open in person from 9am-6pm on Mondays, 9am-9pm Tuesdays through Thursdays, and 9am-5pm on Fridays.  We are open on zoom from 10am-6pm on Mondays, 10am-9pm Tuesdays through Thursdays, 10am-5pm on Fridays, and 2pm-8pm on Sundays.

Is there online tutoring offered?

Yes! We offer online tutoring through zoom an hour after we open in person.  The zoom ID is 559-325-5248.

What subjects are tutored?

We offer help in both STEM and humanities subjects, and have a Comm Lab specifically for presentations in any class.  If you need help on a subject that we do not have a tutor for, we can redirect you to the Fresno City Tutorial Center!

What is Comm Lab?

In Comm Lab we can assist you with a speech or presentation for any class, not just communications classes. See more info here.

Do I need to make an appointment?

You only need to schedule writing appointments.  You can just walk into the Tutorial Center if you want help with STEM subjects or if you’re studying independently.  Comm Lab is also walk-in based.  Make sure you have your ID ready!

How can I schedule an appointment?

To schedule a 30-minute writing appointment, you can call, log on to our zoom, or walk in to the TC and make one at our front desk.  All you have to do is say what subject you are wanting to book for, what times you are available, and whether you want your appointment online or in-person.  Make sure you have your ID ready!

How many writing appointments can I schedule in a day?

Two 30-minute writing appointments can be scheduled in a day, with at least a 30-minute break in between appointments.

How does STEM tutoring work?

While you are working in the STEM room, we follow a flag system.  You can place your flag up on your table to signal to a tutor that you need help with a problem, and they will assist you as soon as possible.

How long can I stay at the Tutorial Center?

You can stay and work as long as you wish until the Tutorial Center closes, but remember to take breaks if you plan to stay a while!

Can I use the computers?

The computers in the STEM and writing rooms are free to use for all students.  Laptops are also available for check-out at the front desk.

Can I use the printer?

Yes, the printers are free to use for any student currently signed in and working in the center.

What other resources are provided?

We provide calculators and laptops that students can check-out at the front desk. We also have textbooks, formula sheets, formatting guides, anatomy models, etc. for use inside the TC.  See more details in the “Other Important Resources” Module.

Can I take a textbook/resource with me?

Unfortunately, you cannot bring the textbooks or other resources with you outside the Tutorial Center, but you are free to use them as long as you’re signed into the TC!
